Glen Canyon Construction operates as a small general contractor in both Utah and Arizona specializing in unique and challenging projects in residential and commercial venues. Most of our work is acquired through the hard bid process however, at Glen Canyon Construction, we are very conscious of the benefits offered from returning customers. As a result, we work hard to cultivate good customer relationships before, during and after the construction process. The GCC team believes that excellent listing skills, superior quality in performance and going the extra mile for our customers is key to building the trust necessary for a reputation based on quality in workmanship and fair business practices.

The company was founded in 2000 by Raymond Rankin as a sole proprietor, performing small commercial and residential projects in the local community and surrounding area. In 2001, Glen Canyon Construction teamed up with Cal Wadsworth Construction to build the Big Water Visitor Center. During the construction of this unique building, Ray acted as the project superintendent for Cal Wadsworth Construction while subcontracting a large portion of the project as Glen Canyon Construction. At the projects completion in 2002, there were no future prospects in the local area so GCC decided to become a part of the CWC team.

From early 2002 until early 2011, Ray and the GCC team worked as employees of Cal Wadsworth Construction. While some of the GCC team left the employ of CWC over the years, Ray stayed on for the duration as a project superintendent/project manager and successfully supervised the completion of $45 million in commercial projects during his tenure. Then in 2011 after 9 years of experience in the hard bid commercial and public works industry, Ray left the employ of CWC to build his future once again with Glen Canyon Construction. Having maintained an active B100 general license in Utah and adding a newly acquired KB-1 dual building contractor license from Arizona in 2009 allowed him to make a smooth transition.  Since that time, some of the more notable projects completed by GCC include a .5MW solar plant for Amangiri Resort, the Big Water Fire Station addition and remodel for the Municipality of Big Water, and rough framing of the 4-story La Quinta Hotel and 4-story Wingate by Wyndham Hotel in Page, AZ for Straightline Builders.

Currently Glen Canyon Construction maintains a local presence operating in the Page and Lake Powell, Greenehaven, Big Water, Church Wells, Paria and Kanab areas. GCC is wholly owned by Ray Rankin who remains active as the company’s president, chief estimator and senior project manager.
